TRANSFERRING CITATIONS FROM ONE REFWORKS ACCOUNT TO ANOTHER

Do you have more than one RefWorks account? Do you want to combine them? Or send citations from one account to another? Follow these steps:

1. In Account #1

1.1. Click the References tab

1.1.1. Click Export

1.2. On the Export screen

1.2.1. Use the drop-down menu to select the folder that you want to export.

1.2.2. Click the box for RefWorks tagged format.

1.2.3. Click the Export to text file button.

1.3. Save the exported file.

2. In Account #2

2.1. Click the References tab

2.1.1. Click Import

2.2. On the Import screen

2.2.1. In the Import filter/data source, click the drop-down menu and click on Refworks Tagged Format.

2.2.2. Select a Folder to import into from the drop-down menu. (This step is optional. If this box is not filled in, imported citations will placed in the Last Imported Folder.)

2.2.3. Browse to find the .txt file you exported/saved from Account #1.

2.2.4. Click the Import button. Your citations should now appear in Account #2 either in the Last Imported Folder or the Subject Folder that you specified in step2.2.2.

RSS FEED MADE EASY

I was able to install a widget in the right-hand pane to make setting up an RSS feed easier. Just click on the RSS icon and follow the on-screen instructions to install the feed in your aggregate reader.

OR

Set up an RSS feed from within Refworks itself. In your Refworks account, click the "Search Tab" and click on RSS feed. Then follow these instructions.

To Add an RSS Feed:

1. Locate the RSS feed you wish to include.

2. Right mouse click on the RSS icon and select Copy Shortcut

3. From within RefWorks select RSS Feed from the Search Menu

4. Paste the shortcut into the text bar and click the Add RSS Feed button

5. Your feeds will be listed alphabetically by the title of the feed which has been provided by the feed itself. The list will also include the feed provider’s description.

To View RSS Data and Import:

1. Launch the RSS Feed by clicking on the name link. Your feed results will be displayed in a separate window

2. Select the records you wish to import by clicking on the appropriate checkboxes.

3. Select a folder to import your records to in the Put in Folder drop-down.

4. After the import you will be taken to the Import view in RefWorks. (or whatever you are using for this page). Click on View Last Imported to see the feeds.

To Delete a RSS Feed:

1. Click on the delete link to the right of your feed name

To Edit the Information Displayed on the RSS Feed Page:

1. Click on the edit link to the right of your feed name

2. Make any changes to the URL, Name or Description

3. Click Save

Creating an RSS feed for the RefWorks@Uno blog

Follow these steps to insert an RSS feed into your RefWorks account.

At the bottom of the blog screen, right click on "Posts(Atom)".
On the pop-up menu, click "copy link location".
In your RefWorks account, click the tab for "Search", and click on "RSS feed".
Paste the link into the box, and click "Add Link".

Overriding a citation style setting

Do you need to override a default citation format to insert a page number or suppress an author's name, e.g., in the APA style? Use the following steps to override an in-text citation default setting:

While your manuscript and Write-n-Cite are open, place your cursor within the in-text citation.
Click the edit option for your citation in Write-n-Cite.
Click the box "Suppress author" to override the automatic insertion of the author's name.
To add a required page number, type the page number in the "Add Text" box.
